Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following posts that have arisen in the University:

FACULTY OF PLANT AND ANIMAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

PROFESSOR /ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER HORTICULTURE (1 POSTS)

DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE

Duties and Responsibilities

• To teach the following Modules on Plant Propagation and Nursery Management, Crop production in protected environments, Hydroponics, and Greenhouse Technology.

• To Supervise research by students under taught programs and higher degrees through research (MPhil/DPhil/PhD).

• To provide community outreach and University services in the field of Horticulture.

• To conduct research that produces goods and services in the field of Horticulture.

• To contribute to Community Outreach, Innovation, and Industrialisation in line with Education 5.0 and the University Strategic Plan.

Qualifications and Experience

• The candidate must have attained a Master’s Degree in Crop Science, Horticulture, or related field. (Or its equivalency) with a Merit pass or better. A Bachelor’s Degree in Crop Science, Horticulture, (Or any related field) is a must.

• A PhD in Crop Science, Horticulture, or any related field is an added advantage.

• University teaching experience is an added advantage.

Skills and attributes

• University teaching experience, traceable record of research expertise, and industrial experience in the field of Horticulture.

• Candidates should be results-driven with good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
