Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following posts that have arisen in the University:

FACULTY OF BIOSYSTEMS ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

DEPARTMENT OF IRRIGATION AND WATER RESOURCES

ENGINEERING LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR – IRRIGATION ENGINEERING (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to provide academic leadership to the Department, initiate, guide and contribute to basic and applied research, innovation and industrialisation programmes in the Department as well as teach the following modules at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level: Pump Technology, Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, Design of Irrigation Systems and Irrigation Water Management. In addition, the applicant will be expected to coordinate and participate in the supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate research students.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have at least a Master’s Degree in Irrigation and Water Engineering or a closely related discipline. A Bachelor’s degree in Irrigation Engineering or a closely related discipline is a must. Applicants with a PhD in Irrigation Engineering or registered PhD candidates and University teaching experience have an added advantage.
